This sculpture depicts The Unicorn of Scotland, one of the Queen's Beasts.  The original Queen's Beasts were a set of ten heraldic statues produced by the Ministry of Works for the coronation ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953 by renowned sculptor James Woodford. It was ultimately decided that they would be gifted to one of the Commonwealth governments and Canada was offered the Beasts. They accepted the offer in 1959 and they now stand in the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec. In 1956 a replica set of Beasts were made in Portland stone once again by James Woodford and donated to Kew. It is these sculptures that visitors to the gardens are greeted with when approaching the main entrance of the Palm House. From the end of the 16th century, two unicorns were adopted as the supporters of the Scottish Royal Arms. In 1603, the crown of England passed to James VI of Scotland, who then became James I of England. He took as supporters of his Royal Arms a crowned lion of England and one of his Scottish unicorns. The unicorn holds a shield showing the Royal Arms of Scotland, a lion ramping in a royal treasure, adorned with fleur-de-lis.

This is a depiction of a luohan in a rarely used material of cast iron, believed to have been created aroudn 1504 in the Ming dynasty. In portraying Luohans (holy monks), chinese sculptors enjoyed a certain freedom of expression. Conventions were not as strict as for the depiction of buddhas or bodhisattvas. Sculptors took delight in giving each luohan an individual expression, at times even approaching caricature. Cast iron sculpture - very rare in the West before the 19th cenutry - was common in China from the eighth century onwards. The iron object was often embellished with a layer of gold lacquer.   This object is part of Scan The World. The name of the Latin fountain derives from the Latin word Trivium (intersection of three streets). The statue is located right in the center of De 'Crocicchi Street, Poli Street and Delle Muratte Street. The Baroque style fountain was completed in 1762 after years of planing and various projects made by different artists and architects.This sculpture of Tritons is situated on the right side, to the front.

This is the funerary stele of Caius Valerius Diodorus. Within the clipeo two people are represented: on the left and seated a bearded man, wrapped in a cloak, in front of him and a young man dressed in tunic over which he bears the paenula or perhaps the sagum; with his left hand he holds a long roll. It is perhaps an episode of the life of the duo connected with his scholastic activity (the seated man and probably the father of the deceased).  Under the clipeo is the following epigraphic text: To gay valerio diodoro, who lived eighteen years, gay valerius placid and valeria mirtale, his parents, (they put the monument) both for the son and for themselves..

In Greek mythology, the Niobids were the children of Amphion of Thebes and Niobe, slain by Apollo and Artemis because Niobe, born of the royal house of Phrygia, had boastfully compared the greater number of her own offspring with those of Leto, Apollo's and Artemis' mother: a classic example of hubris. These heads are the only remaining part of a group sculpture showing the Adoration of the Magi, destroyed in 1945. They belonged to two of the three kings, visiting and gifting newborn Jesus.
