This is an ancient bust sculpture depicting Lucius Junius Brutus, the founder of the Roman Republic and traditionally one of the first consuls in 509 BC. This followed his successful overthrow of the Roman monarchy. He was claimed as an ancestor of the Roman gens Junia, including Decimus Junius Brutus and Marcus Junius Brutus, the most famous of Julius Caesar's assassins.

This marble sculpture titled 'Woman with Child', also known as 'Leucothea and Bacchus' was carved by an unknown sculptor. The group piece depicts a woman holding a child. In Greek mythology, Leucothea (white goddess) was one of the aspects under which an ancient sea goddess was recognized, in this case as a transformed nymph. In this instance the goddess is most probably the manifestation of Ino after she leapt into the sea with her son Melicertes (another sculpture from the gardens of the Palace of Versailles); upon her death the Olympian gods turned them both into sea-gods, Melicertes into Palaemon, and Ino into Leucothea. The reason why Ino jumped into the sea is believed to be because she raised Dionyus (or Bacchus, as in this sculpture), her nephew, son her of sister Semele. Because Dionysus was the son of a mortal woman, Semele, and Zeus, Zeus's wife wasn't best pleased with Dionysus being taken care of (she tried to kill him in many instances). This caused Hera's intense jealousy. In vengeance, Hera struck her husband with insanity; he went mad, killed one of his sons, Learchus, thinking he was a ram, and set out in a frenzied pursuit of Ino, leading her to throw herself into the sea. In another variation Ino was stricken with insanity and killed Merlicertes by boiling him in a cauldron, then took the cauldron and jumped into the sea with it.    This object is part of Scan The World. This monument is in memory of Victory Charpentier, Comte d'Ennery, governor of the French colonies in America, who died in Saint Domingue in 1776. A medalion presents the deceased's portrait in profile. On the right are his widow and daughter; on the left, his sister, the Comtesse de Blot.The metal urn containing the count's heart was brought back to France, but is now lost; set on the stele, it was the focus of his daughter's attention.

This marble sculpture titled 'Le Flegmatique' (eng. Phlegmatic, meaning sluggish or apathetic) was made between 1675-1679 by French sculptor Matthieu Lespagnandelle (1616-1689). The statue was made alongside three other sculptures personifying the allegory of the human conditions of man : The Choleric, The Blood and The Melancholic. This phlegmatic temperament, which is someone of cold or slow character, is represented by an older man with his arms folded, shrouded in a thick cloak. At his feet is a tortoise, symbollic of being a slow and quiet animal. The original sculpture was removed from the park in 2007. Very eroded, it was sheltered in the lower gallery of Versailles after its restoration. A plaster mold now replaces it in the gardens.   This is part of a series of sculptures of the Grande Commande, commissioned by King Louis XIV in 1674 for the Gardens of Versailles. The initial project was proposed in 1674 and plans were drawn up by Charles Le Brun as to what the series of 24 sculptures could depict. The idea was to be designed as a broad review of the effects of God on the world and a unity of man and nature with personifications of various natural phenomenons and landmarks. Zhang Liang (c. 3rd century BC – 186 BC), courtesy name Zifang, was a strategist and statesman in the early Western Han dynasty. He is also known as one of the Three Heroes of the early Han dynasty, along with Han Xin and Xiao He. Zhang Liang contributed greatly to the establishment of the Han dynasty and was conferred the title Marquis Wencheng of Liu by Emperor Gaozu in recognition of his efforts.   This object is part of Scan The World. This is a souvenir pot from the Chegem waterfalls in Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia. The vessel shows the beautiful waterfalls underneath mountains and has Chegem inscribed on itself in Russian.  The waterfalls follow cliffs of the mountains down to the Chegem river and are often visited by tourists, especially in winter, as they cover the cliffsides with beautiful icy cascades.

This marble relief depicts Rodin's lover, Camille Claudel. The woman first met Rodin as her assistant. During the 1880's, Rodin hired a team of expert assistants to work alongside him in the office. Camille was one of Rodin's assistants, she helped him in some of his most difficult pieces, that period was intense and she had the opportunity to learn a lot from Rodin himself. While Rodin thought his art to the young artist, he not only recognized her incredible talent but also fell in love with her. The love story they lived was complicated and the letters they exchanged during their relationship attest the great love and passion that Rodin felt for the so-called Mademoiselle C..
