Abstract
Background: In each dental school there are two parallel curriculum. One is written in the syllabus, the other is enacted every day in clinics, laboratories and hostel corridors, where senior students transmit norms of conduct, confidence and care to their juniors long before any faculty member intervenes. This informal, senior-mediated transfer is a significant and unexplored aspect of the “hidden curriculum” in dentistry education.
Aim: To explore the ways in which senior dental students impact the professional development of juniors, through a narrative synthesis of the relevant literature, and to distinguish the constructive mechanisms of this influence from its corrosive manifestations.
Discussion: Structured near-peer mentoring programs enhance early clinical confidence in younger students, facilitate transition to holistic patient care, and provide first-time teaching and leadership opportunities for senior students. However, if left unstructured, the same hierarchical proximity can legitimize harassment, ragging, silence to unprofessional conduct and degradation of moral bravery. Both impacts operate through the same mechanisms – role modeling, socialization, and development of professional identity – therefore the difference is an institutional design, not a difference in student character.
Conclusion: Senior students are inevitable curricular agents. Dental organizations that formalize, monitor, and reward constructive senior–junior engagement can turn an existing informal force into a structured asset for professionalism. Unregulated hierarchies allow the same force free to destroy it.

Code and data reproducibility package for the AIES 2026 paper "Auditing Alignment Controllability in LLMs via Political Axes."Most political audits of an LLM report a single point on a political compass. We argue that resting point barely matters for a deployed system; what matters is the reachable area, how far and in which directions a model's political answers can be steered by the system prompt. This package contains the raw model responses, the collection and processing pipeline, and the analysis scripts that reproduce every number and figure in the paper.Core study: 7 frontier models (GPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Grok-4.3, Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite, DeepSeek-Chat v3.1, Kimi K2, Qwen3.6 Max Preview) × 13 system-prompt contexts × 10 replicates × 70 Political Compass items = 63,700 responses, plus saturation, R3 ablation, and two compound-quadrant pilot lanes.Reproducibility: processed data regenerates byte-identical from the raw responses; paper_claim_audit.py confirms 51/51 paper claims hold; continuous integration re-verifies on every push.Licensing: code is MIT, data is CC-BY-4.0. Generative AI technologies are increasingly acquiring characteristics of interactive cognitive agents. These systems have considerable potential to augment learning and creativity, but they also pose novel challenges to the human mind. Continuous reliance on generative AI may result in cognitive surrender, where decision-making and reasoning are progressively outsourced to the algorithms. Widespread generative AI use may result in the homogenisation of language and reduce epistemic diversity. Although generative AI is unlikely to cause primary delusions, its interactive and sycophantic nature may reinforce overvalued ideas in a vulnerable population. We argue that AI may augment cognition and creativity if efforts are made towards AI literacy, critical- thinking education, and human-in-the-loop practices.

This research workbook operationalises the Taqrib Diagnostic–Decision Model (TDDM) as a structured instrument for studying Islamic intra-faith rapprochement. It supports the classification, diagnosis, measurement and evidence-informed analysis of Taqrib initiatives across doctrinal, social, educational, institutional, legal, cultural, digital and civilisational domains. The workbook incorporates 25 Taqrib families, 207 recognised modalities and 220 candidate indicators. It also provides a diagnostic matrix, decision tree, indicator registry, evidence register, scoring templates, validation protocols, risk register, decision ledger, action tracker and publication-readiness controls. The instrument may be used by researchers, postgraduate students, supervisors and Islamic-sects scholars to analyse historical texts, contemporary dialogue initiatives, institutional programmes and policy interventions. It is also applicable to the structured analysis of al-Murājaʿāt and comparable intra-Islamic dialogue cases. TDDM does not measure the truth, superiority or legitimacy of any Islamic school of thought. Its indicators are intended to evaluate the design, process, evidence base and practical outcomes of rapprochement initiatives. The current workbook is a research instrument and candidate operationalisation; it should not be presented as an empirically validated scale until expert validation, pilot testing and reliability assessment have been completed.
