Automatic seismic catalog for the Lower Rhine Graben region, from 2019-01-01 until 2026-04-01.
Two catalogs are provided: one using the single-event absolute NonLinLoc (NLL, Lomax et al., 2000) localization algorithm, and another one with the location obtained from the multi-event NLL-SSST-Coherence method (Lomax & Savvaidis, 2021).
The focal mechanisms are obtained via SKHASH (Skoumal et al., 2024) and provided for both reported catalogs (absolute and relocated).

Publicly funded research is a shared effort, but we organise the resources that it depends on, infrastructure, data, scholarly output, funding, support, and governance, as if they were separate responsibilities. This creates a system that works in pieces, but not as a whole. We build similar solutions multiple times, solutions do not connect, and researchers traversing the system are left to bridge the gaps themselves. The current system is organised in a way that each component has a very constrained sphere of influence and thus by itself cannot build all required bridges either. This applies not only to infrastructure, data, scholarly output, funding, support and governance but also to how research is communicated, accessed, and reused.
In this report, we explain how the concept of commons can help to organise the fragmented research ecosystem, so that infrastructure, data, and scholarly output are perceived as a shared responsibility and funding, support and governance are organized through collective action.

Beyond Written Autobiography: Toward an Akan Theory of Oral Autobiographical Voice in the Folktales of Kweku Ananse and Kweku Tsin

This study reconsiders the conventional boundaries of autobiography by examining how selfhood may be constructed beyond written individual life narratives. Traditional theories of autobiography, particularly those associated with Philippe Lejeune's concept of the autobiographical pact, emphasise the relationship between author, narrator, and protagonist within a retrospective written account of personal experience. While this model remains foundational, it provides limited space for understanding oral traditions in which identity is produced through performance, repetition, communal recognition, and cultural memory. Drawing on developments in autobiography and life-writing studies, theories of narrative identity, and scholarship on African oral traditions, this study proposes the concept of Oral Autobiographical Voice as an Akan model of self-representation. Through a qualitative close reading of Paul Radin's published versions of two Akan folktales, "How Spider Obtained the Sky-God's Stories" and "How Wisdom Became the Property of the Human Race," the study examines how Kweku Ananse and Kweku Tsin acquire enduring narrative identities through successive oral performances. The analysis argues that these figures do not constitute autobiographies in the conventional written sense; rather, their autobiographical voices emerge through four interconnected processes: narrative continuity, communal authorship, performative selfhood, and cultural memory. Ananse's acquisition of storytelling authority and Kweku Tsin's transformation of inherited wisdom demonstrate that identity in Akan oral tradition is not produced through individual authorship but through collective acts of narration, performance, and remembrance. By proposing an Akan theory of Oral Autobiographical Voice, this study expands autobiography from the writing of one's life to the broader construction of a recognizable self through oral performance and cultural transmission. It contributes to life-writing studies by challenging the assumption that autobiographical self-representation is exclusively textual, individual, and written, while demonstrating the complexity of African oral traditions as alternative spaces for the production, preservation, and negotiation of identity.
When Does Evidence Become Explanation? A Critical Appraisal of Enhancer–Promoter Distance and Transcriptional Dynamics in Tünnermann et al. (2026)

Scientific progress depends not only on discovering new biological mechanisms but also on critically evaluating the evidence that supports them (Haven & Ioannidis, 2025). The article Enhancer–Promoter Distance Controls Transcriptional Bursting Through Promoter Regime Switching by Tünnermann et al. (2026), published in Nature Genetics, examines how the genomic distance between enhancers and promoters influences transcriptional bursting in mouse embryonic stem cells using live-cell imaging, genome engineering, and quantitative mathematical modeling.
Transcriptional bursting is the process by which genes produce RNA in intermittent bursts, alternating between periods of active transcription and periods of little or no activity rather than being expressed continuously (Du et al., 2024; Ramsköld et al., 2024; Robles-Rebollo et al., 2022; Tünnermann et al., 2026). Building on growing evidence that enhancer–promoter communication dynamically regulates this process rather than functioning as a simple on–off switch, the authors challenge the conventional two-state model of promoter activity (Friedman et al., 2024; Nagel & Taatjes, 2025; Zuin et al., 2022). Instead, they propose that enhancer proximity regulates transitions between distinct promoter activity regimes, thereby influencing both the timing and variability of gene expression (Tünnermann et al., 2026).
This critique critically examines the study by summarizing its objectives, experimental approaches, and principal findings, while evaluating the robustness of its experimental design and interpretation of data. It further discusses the study's contribution to the broader field of advanced genetics, identifies its methodological limitations and potential sources of bias, and reflects on the ethical and societal implications arising from its findings. Through a balanced yet rigorous analysis, this critique assesses not only the strengths of the investigation but also the extent to which the evidence justifies the authors' conclusions and advances current understanding of enhancer-mediated gene regulation.
