The idea of establishing OptimumT was conceived a long time ago. It happened around a time when some of us confronted challenging technical problems and sought their solutions. After much tedium we realized that the best way to solve our problems was to apply optimization techniques. It took us much longer, however, to reach this conclusion. At the time we started developing our beliefs about the power of optimization algorithms, most of us had already spent considerable years in academia or industry in order to familiarize ourselves with the cutting-edge technologies. When we realized it, however, we deemed it as our eureka moment.
At OptimumT we are extremely credulous about the power of optimization techniques as elegant solvers of real-world problems. As a matter of fact, we have a firmly held belief that most of the real-world problems can be looked at as optimization problems and, consequently, they can be solved by applying optimization techniques adequately. This is not a prejudiced world-view. Our world-view has evolved after spending years of laborious efforts in solving some of the hardest technical problems that were posed to us.
Most of us at OptimumT have our backgrounds in technical disciplines. Almost all of us have advanced degrees in computer science, engineering or electrical or electronics engineering. What brought us together were the problems that we carried in our bags as graduate students. We found them difficult to solve. They frustrated us. In some cases our frustrations spanned months and even years. Our problems made us feel dumb and contemptible in those times.
Eventually we found each other. All of us talked about our problems to each other. Some of had developed a background in optimization techniques by that time. They listened to the problems of others. Eventually, they proposed a track for solving the problem. And the track was based on applying an optimization technique. The problem got solved and everyone fell in love with optimization techniques eventually.
At last we thought about proposing our ideas to the whole world through OptimumT. So, you have found us here. You might wonder that we have been a little late in getting online. We had to finish our homework before doing so. A few ideas needed proofs of concepts. We have them now. And here we are to serve you with our cordial wit.
